Yá'át'ééh! (Greetings) My name is Joel Cedric Hernández. I am Navajo and Sicangu Lakota (Rosebud Sioux). My work is representative of both my tribes and a convergence of traditional and contemporary Native American Art. I enjoy working with beautiful materials like turquoise and mother of pearl, shells and bone beads, crystals and seed beads. With influences from all that surrounds us on Mother Earth, I like to bring together colorful items and turn them into Art. It means so much to me that you have visited my website. Ahéhee'! LOGO DESIGN
Inspired by the love for my homelands, the Navajo Nation, The Rez Company, is my way of carrying a little bit of home with me in my business. Our beautiful lands are within our Four Sacred Mountains, each rising from a cardinal direction. We look to these four sacred symbols of Navajo culture for blessings, strength, protection, and wisdom. Sisnaajiní in the East is White Shell Mountain. TsoodziÅ‚ in the South is the Turquoise Mountain. Dook'o'oosÅ‚ííd in the West is the Abalone Shell Mountain. Finally, Dibé Nitsaa in the North is the Jet Mountain. I hope with a small representation of these sacred mountains in our logo brings a blessing to you.
